Mindful Yoga with Hazel

Anyone can do yoga, you don’t have to be ‘bendy’ or athletic, yoga is for any age, any body type, any experience!

Practicing yoga is great for supporting our general wellbeing, promoting physical health as well as mental health. A regular yoga practice can help you feel calmer, stronger and freer in the body and mind.  The benefits of a regular yoga practice include:

Strengthening the body  and improving mental focus

Improving balance by developing strength and stability

Increasing the body’s mobility and flexibility

Releasing built up tension in body & mind

Easing stress and anxiety by calming the nervous system

Enhancing all-round physical and mental health

Tailoring your practice to suit you as an individual, and honour your body as it is.

Yoga isn’t about being flexible or holding a particular pose, it’s about what the breath and movement feels like for you, in your body. If you feel like your muscles are working and stretching, and your breath is slowing and deepening then you are practicing yoga!  I aim to create an inclusive space where everyone feels comfortable and confident to explore and develop their own yoga practice at their own capability. I believe yoga is for everybody, all ages, body types and capabilities. Variations and modifications will be given, so you can  practice, and challenge yourself at your own pace.

Classes blend mindful movement and breath to allow you to slow down and focus your attention. My aim is that classes give you the opportunity to tune into your body and slow down the busy mind; to provide a protected space to stop doing…and to just be.

Each class consists of a mixture of:

Limbers - to warm up and prepare the body, and to settle the mind.

Asana - physical action or movements of the body, the postures.

Pranayama - breath control (practicing effective breathing styles).

Relaxation - practicing relaxing and releasing tension from the body and mind.

Private classes available.

A one-to-one yoga class can be really useful for a variety of reasons. You might choose a 1 to 1 class if you:

  • are new to yoga and want to get the hang of the postures and become more confident

  • have some health concerns or injuries that prevent your body moving in certain ways

  • want to work on something specific in your practice

Introductory offer £25 (50 minute session)

1 to 1s can be in the client’s home provided there is a suitable and safe space.

“As a woman in her late sixties who has several injuries I was concerned that I would not be able to manage a class. I had a one on one session with Hazel and was given easier alternatives for some of the moves, and these are working for me.
